Start iSharing

If you’re new to iSharing, welcome! This article walks you through the first steps of getting started.

1. Create your account

Signing up is quick and simple. You can create an account with your email, or use Apple, Google, or Facebook login for an even faster setup. Choose whichever option you prefer.

You’ll need an iSharing account first — location sharing isn’t available without one.

2. Add friends

You can invite friends during sign-up, or add them anytime afterward using the ‘+’ button on the main screen. Invitations can be sent through any messenger app you like.

1. Allowing Contacts makes adding friends more convenient. (Aside from inviting friends, your contacts are not used or stored on iSharing’s servers.)
2. You can search by mobile phone number or email.
3. You can share the invitation link through a message or social media.
4. If the person is already registered with iSharing, an ‘Add’ button appears so you can add them directly. If they haven’t signed up yet, an ‘Invite’ button appears instead so you can send them an invitation.

How adding a friend works

If the friend already has an iSharing account, an ‘Add’ button pops up to confirm your request. The request then appears in their iSharing account, where they can review and approve it.

If the friend hasn’t signed up yet, select the ‘Invite’ button to send an invitation by text or email. When they install the app through your link, a friend request pop-up appears on their sign-up page, so you’re connected as soon as they join.

3. Approve the friend request

For someone who doesn’t have iSharing yet: they simply tap the link in your invitation message and download the app.

Once they sign up through your link, they can accept the friend request right on the sign-up screen. Tap ‘Accept’ and a confirmation appears showing the request was approved, so you’re connected automatically.

4. View a location

You’re all set! Now you can check each other’s real-time locations anytime, anywhere.

To view a friend’s location:

1. Open the iSharing main screen.
2. Tap the friend’s name at the bottom of the screen to see their current location and address.
